Washington State Public Course To Host 2015 U.S. Open
The layout, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr and Bruce Charleton with spectacular views of Puget Sound, will also be the venue for the 2010 U.S. Amateur championship, the U.S. Golf Association (USGA) said on Friday.
Chambers Bay, which opened in June 2007, will be the third municipal course to host the U.S. Open following Bethpage Black in New York (2002, 2009) and Torrey Pines in California later this year.
The awarding of the championships to Chambers Bay was approved by the USGA's executive committee at its annual meeting in Houston. Formal approval is pending contractual agreement.
"We are excited to take the U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur to such an awesome site," USGA championship committee chairman Jim Hyler said in a statement.
"We are confident the course will provide a challenging test for the best players in the world, as well as a great spectator experience."
