Cavendish Pulls Out Of Tour De France

TIGNES, France - Briton Mark Cavendish of the T-Mobile team pulled out of the Tour de France on Sunday.

The 22-year-old Cavendish, who has had a difficult start to his first Tour with two crashes in the first week, got off his bike some 35 km after the start of the eighth stage, a 165-km trek from Le Grand-Bornand to Tignes.

A sprint specialist, Cavendish had said before the start of the race in London on July 7 that he did not expect to reach Paris.
