Brady And Moss Lift Patriots Past Bengals
"It's a pretty good connection," Brady told reporters after throwing seven yards to Moss for a second-quarter touchdown, then putting the game away with a 14-yard, fourth-quarter pass to Moss.
"He was a great player before he got here, and he is still a great player," Brady said of Moss, who was signed in the off-season. "He adds a lot to this offense."
Moss ended up with nine catches for 102 yards. The 30-year-old former Oakland Raider now has seven touchdowns and 31 receptions for 505 yards in four games with the Patriots.
Brady, who completed 25 of 32 passes for 231 yards, also hit Mike Vrabel for a 1-yard score in the first quarter. The touchdown was set up by a 49-yard run by last-minute starter Sammy Morris, who filled in for injured running back Laurence Maroney.
Morris made it into the end zone himself with a 7-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that gave New England a 24-7 lead.
"I think we needed to get some momentum, and to get six (points) was big for us at that time," Morris, who rushed for 117 yards on 21 carries, said.
Stephen Gostkowski added field goals of 31 and 36 yards for the Patriots, one of four unbeaten teams in the NFL. The Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers also are 4-0.
Cleveland (1-3) scored on Carson Palmer's 1-yard pass to T.J Houshmandzadeh in the second quarter and field goals of 40 and 48 yards by Shayne Graham.
